Leaky Wires :(
« on: February 18, 2008, 06:25:10 PM »
One of my new 20's has a leaky spoke

Got the tyre off it today and it has been damaged by whoever put the tyres on. If you pump it up (40psi) its flat within the hour.

anyway heres a pic of the damage, its the rubber inner spoke seal luckily not the hard outer spoke seal.

So what do you reckon i should fix it with?

I was thinking of some kind of silicon with a car punture type patch over the top

ive used bead sealer over the top before now, didnt fancy cutting it out, then lots of duct tape to stop it happening again....thats defo been caused by a tyre lever bar used for fitting

i had the luxury of rollin on 13's so i could get inner tubes, altho im sure in the past ive just got a company to paint a shed load of tyre seal over the damaged bit, then maybe some duct tape, and it was fine!

Any body tried to fix the hard-outer spoke seal, the stuff that looks like body filler??
I've got to get it off to try and sort my dodgy spokes and i've  been wondering what to use to re-seal it

All the nipples are seized and some of the spokes are loose so if i can't get them freed up the wheels are useless anyway.
I suppose i shouldn't worry about the air leaks just yet
