Pressure settings
« on: September 11, 2008, 08:19:30 PM »
Got to go and do a bit of work on a cobra on air, not viewed system yet but basic description is individual corner control on it supposedly air ride although tank looks like a fire extinguisher :o
When the sytem is set to drop to ride height he is setting all guages to drop to 36 psi, sounds all good but drops very fast and is leeving say 36 in one 34 in another 30 in another etc.
Is there asually slow downs in air systems or is it all just line and port dependant?
Why would the system not re pump the corners or only go to the set digital readings?

Any hinters of where to ook would be great before i end up stripping the whole system to see whats going on.

Cheers in advance guys, and chew for the offer of help via that odd ringing thing already. :D

What does that mean good sir?
Is it possible dirt or moisture could effect the pressure sensors?

Went to look at this system on saturday.
It has a air ride digital controller with 3 programed settings plus individual corner control.
Waste of time however as the lines that are runing on the system are Nearly the same size i would expect to use for juice instead of the small push lock line's.
This is on a cobra replica and the guy only wants it for height adjust for speed bumps etc.
Cannot get it to hold programmed setting just jumps all over the show.

Is there a way of slowing a system down?
Inline restrictors?
When low on air system works a lot better.

best way to slow it down would be to fit 1/4 lines and fittings [kill 2 birds with one stone   ]

as to jumping around all over the place............ smaller lines will help that as the system wont be trying to control such a large volume of air in each corner, but at the end oof the day it is still AIM  :(

Can i change the line sizes by removing the old ones and using a union to shrink the port sizes down to slim lines?

Does anyone in uk supply the push and lock style unions and hose so i can do a really tidy install?

Know the AIM system is useless but guy forked out 4 k and now dont want to spend more than 500 to get it working right.
Usual thing as you know.
Cheers for help FD, if there is a convenient time to call you this week that would be great if you could let me know.

i'm not working this week [well, not printing anyway  :( ] so call the mobi whenever. it may not be on depending but i'll get back to you.

place in brum called Norton...................... hmmm, maybe not  :o

the AIM block will have bsp ports [but may be tapered]. Any pneumatic outlet will have push to fit connectors and pipe but you'll need to take one of the AIM fittings as a pattern to get adaptors.

Difficult one but make sure the guy knows that he has bought a crap system and that you [i:3thjz4ok]may[/i:3thjz4ok] not be able to fix it. THEN get paid for the bits up front

Thats fantastic FD will take you up on being able to give you a call.
Can you pm me your number just to confirm i have correct one still please.

I am doing the work as a bill payment for one of the local rod builders but we are keeping the customer informed at every step of the job, he will pay for whatever we do and is very aware of the system being of dubios quality.

He paid a guy to do the system he then went bump, had to get someone else to finish system and although original is back trading, yada yada we all know this story too well.
Think he will be greatfull of getting some honesty.
