Merc boffin's required
« on: July 14, 2008, 07:44:36 PM »
Hey there guy's just wanted to pick your brains!

Got a merc 200te on a k reg with the 2lt 8v lump, having a few missfire issues but they are intermitent.
Changed plug's lead's dizzy cap and rotor arm. Seems to run fine then just sometimes drops down to a very lumpy 500rpm especailly if sat in traffic, next thing it will clear itself.
Occasionally feels like getting no throttle response as well, this is usually after it has been missing.

Any ideas or advice will be greatly recieved.

fuel filter?..   might be worth changing and running some injector cleaner through incase
you might get a better idea if this is causing it by the state of the spark plugs?..

Cheers dude, got some injector cleaner so gona give it a run through on the way to bug jam on a full tank, see how it behaves.

Any idea where the fuel filters are on these things?

They can build up s**t in the metering head, injector cleaner should sort that. Ive seen problems with the throttle poteniometers but thatl give flat spots not a misfire.
