Volvo S40/V40?
« on: September 15, 2008, 11:22:31 AM »
Ayup lads.

Well I'll be looking at getting an S40 or V40 as a cheap runabout soon (1997ish probably, as you can get an ok one for a grand).
Can somebody tell me what I'd need for a simplish bag system. I want an average lift, and a fairly fast dump to sitting reeeal low. I'd mostly be driving it around as low as physically possible, but its cool to have the lift sometimes eh.

So if someone who knows stuff, list what I'd need and a rough cost? Oh and what to the bags actually replace?

Peace

details from russ needed on this one..........

but assuming its McPh front and seperate coil/shocks at the rear, its a simple [ish] job BUT you need specific McPh replacment units which to get REALLY low. You can do it with bag-over units from Universalair but they are sometimes limited by the length of the oem strut and/or the position of the bag [some that are not central on the strut are over the tyre]
bags replace coil springs only.
you still need shocks/struts and some sort of air supply to fill the bags and a control system to deflate the bags.
Most things improve with age................

Nice one man. I'm pretty sure they're coil over shock on the back also.

Is there a decent online shop I can have a look through and get a rough idea of pricing?
