Complete newbie, help me out
« on: September 30, 2008, 07:13:36 PM »
sup everyone ive been reading on here for a while but dont post much, im just about to buy my first project a 280ce merc its in decent condition but i dont know too much about hooking up lowriders and stuff so i apologize in advance for any really basic stupid questions i may ask.

first off i think il want to put it on air because it seems like it will be the easier option for me being new to this but i want it to be pretty fast moving air how do i sort that out any good fast setups i could buy on the net?

2nd whats  the significance of having smaller or larger rims on the car and how do i know which tire to put on it?

3rd i quite like the way the headlights look on these cars how to i either colour them or chrome it

also were could i get a grill from like the one on the 2nd merc

thanks guys, sorry if these questions are stupid haha

peace

Hi mate, good to see another 123 coup out there, theyre becoming the uk lowriding impala! :)
the headlamp covers can be purchased from euro car parts or online, i covered mine in mirror window tint, or you can just paint the reverse as jamie did, my indicators still shone through though you had to take em off at night..... 8)
funny how many more people asked about my headlights than my hydraulics lol
the large emblem grilles are fairly cheap, again available from euro car parts, but arent the best quality in the world.....

Euro car parts have none in stock ,and after many calls over the last few months to them ,it doesnt look like they'll have anymore. have tried all the Merc dealers in my area ,none have them either.Apparently they werent an actual Merc part originally. Im looking into making some by vac forming the plastic, but all the trials Ive done so far with the vac former arent succesful as the special plastic reqd is too thin to work succesfully. The machine wont take thicker stuff.I 've found a local friendly plastic forming company that will do it at reasonable rates ,but there is a lot of development reqd to my mould before they will do it! So they appear to be the formidable rocking horse poo! I was going to borrow Chewys covers to take moulds ,but I dont want the risk of damaging his originals in the process.
