Viair compressors - which one....
« on: November 04, 2008, 09:08:02 PM »
Hi there folks, i'm looking at fitting air to my lowered car as the number of speed bumps and pot holes round hear is proving to be a pain in the a$$

i've been looking around on here and other sites mainly in the us and i thought i had it sorted but the more i look the confused i'm getting...

what's the best set up when it comes to duty cycles? they seem to be either 33% or 100%???

i planning on running a small ish tank and was tempted by the 450 which is the 100% / constant duty but them i'm wondering if this is a bit of a over kill, would the 400 or even the 325 be ok / better...

http://www.mattsavage.com/acatalog/onboard_kits.html

any thoughts on the above? are they a good price for what you get or is it better to get them from the states?

cheers for now

Hi there

the cars a 66 bug, (ball joint front end) with cb dropped spindles and an adjuster in a 4" narrowed beam

had planned on fitting Monroe Max Air shocks (ma756's) up front, not looking at anything too trick really just wanna be able to avoid the loud bangs a bit...

so its just the front then ?

Those shocks move so slow [compared to a bag] that you would almost get away without a tank.

I have a some shocks in stock still, are monroe but dont know which off hand and a Firestone comp.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow... probably have valves for that as well.

tempted with monroe shocks on the back end too as i'm after a fairly straight forward bolt on option with minimal fab work

seen some other vw's with gabrial shocks on them and they also lok ok for what i want but can't find any specs on them...

what do you guys think of this set up i spotted...

it will be VERY slow. almost to the point were there will be NO lift unless you are rolling.
[bug rear demands that any lift system has the power to scrub the tyres sideways AS WELL as lift the weight of the car]
