import duties, and VAT

hello everybody, hope 1 or 2 of you on here may still help me out....
i need to find out the import duty if there is any, and the vat, if there is any, to import brand new car parts into australia.

you mean to exoprt to Oz ?

there wont be VAT as its outside EU. You need to declare when you but them that they will be exported so you can reclaim the VAT you pay.
There will be duty, the OZ embassy will tell you

cheers iain, i have got the number for the embassy, but they were closed... the parts aren't coming from here, but japan.  Just want to make sure there are no hidden costs involved with gettin them into oz.  as the parts aren't coming into the UK will i still have to pay vat? cheers. will prob pm now you are helping out....

VAT is EU only.
If you are buying in US then exporting direct to OZ I dont know what will be payable. I suspect that is a question for your VAT officer and US/OZ customs.
You can invoice OZ with 0% VAT on the invoice as OZ is outside the EU and your books can show 0% VAT on the purchase as you havnt imported the goods into the EU
BUT UK customs is loosing out somewhere and I cant see there being a loophole that allows that...........................
