hydro oil for the first time
« on: April 14, 2010, 08:36:26 AM »
Iain, call me stupid, but hopefully i should all my hoses made and installed by the end of the week, anyway, hoping to por some oil into the reservoir!!  ;D

Firslty, whats the best oil to use, bearing in mind i might have narrow diameter joints etc as previously discussed, lower viscosity oil (so more watery?) or standard (what you recommend)

Also, when putting oil in for the first time how the hell does it make it to the rams to fill the system if air is ahead of it? also the wiring is not yet done, i had a switch box offa Christoff, which makes no sense hows its wired (although been looking at the other topic)

Do i simply fill tanks and allow oil to filter through, or do i need to get wiring sorted so rams are fully driven out by pumps? hmmm.....

Castrol AWS 32 or any similar 32 grade hydro fluid.

easier if its wired first but as long as your solenoids are linked you can spin the pumps.
Technically you want to disconnect the hoses at the rams and pump oil to each one till it comes out clear, then up and down a few times till the oil in the tanks is clear.................... in practise fill the tanks lift/drop all a few times then leave all down for a few hours with the tank bungs off. Refill and repeat. maybe another couple of time ................ as long as you have clear oil in the tanks after lifting and dropping you are OK.
