its not going to hop unless you make it a "definetaly not road car".
switching will be a nightmare if you mix a propper dump setup with a "manifold" and return dump.

go with two pumps plumbed side to side at 36v and wack it with a massive panic as the prime move......................

ask Ant or Fil what a fast panic feels like :)

36v per system............................
3 or 6 batteries.
6 will give you twice the duration between charges.
If you want to give good displays 6 will give you enough power for a show every couple of hours for a day.
DONT let batts go flat tho or you WILL get sticking solenoids and burned switches. That's why you want starter batts and not deep cycle. The only advantage of deep cycle is that they can be fully discharged without harming them. BUT if you do fully discharge them you WILL harm your system so keep the £'s in your pocket and get starters which need to be kept at a reasonable charge level anyway.

yep, one pump left side, other right side.

664 are good (or 663 which just has terminals the other way round]
Try a tractor dealer if you have a local one, usually good or a deal.
Wire batts in two banks of three, then link the two blocks of 36v together to give one big bank of 36v. That way you even out the voltage use over the whole vehicle.
MAKE SURE YOU USE A GOOD DISCONNECT IN A COMMON EARTH POINT FOR BOTH BLOCKS.

http://www.layitlow.com/tech/2pump_6batt_2bay.shtml    this is how you wire the batteries but as Fat daddy said above link both banks together.
this will give you 36v for all moves including panic.

with 3 batts connect them together as the diagram and connect the solenoid strings for both pumps to the 36v + terminal.

with six batts connect two lots of batts together as above, then join the two 36v terminals together, then join the same to the solenoid strings.

you dont wire the batts for a panic you just use the switches the right way.

that would be right using 2 pumps and 3 batts. you just need to piggy back another bank of 3 batts to half of that drawing........................
