Midlands suppliers / fitters
« on: April 23, 2010, 08:27:39 AM »
Hi all

I'm new here, followed a link from Mr Whitewalls blog spot. :)

I'm trying to find a company that can supply and fit a basic air ride kit to my car.

I'm not looking for a crazy hopping system or anything like that, I mainly want an air ride system so I can pop it up when I carry passengers and going over speed bumps and then drop it back down to low for normal driving.

Am I right in thinking that all systems are custom? I have found a car specific kit but the company is based in Kent so I'd prefer to find a reputable company local to Walsall/Birmingham if possible.

Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

Phil

Cheers

It's a Nissan cube which has the same suspension fitment as a Nissan Micra K12 but has a heavier overall weight.

I've found this kit - http://airbagme.com/airsuspensionkits.php?model=48 (The top one) - but after e-mailing the company they have said that I would need a custom kit so I'm not sure if the whole thing would need to be custom or if just some components would need to be upgraded.

Either way I'd prefer a Midlands based company for ease of accessibility.

Thanks
Phil

I think you'll find that stuff is from

http://www.airbagit.com/Default.asp?Redirected=Y

Everything they do is "universal".
Check the images on a few specific cars, all the parts are the same. They do make them fit specific cars to order.
They have a very "variable" reputation for quality and customer service.
My advice would be to check out some US forums before you do anything.

Have you tried Rayvern?

Thanks for the advice, appreciate that.

I've dropped a message to Rayvern through their site.

Happy to welcome any other suggestions/recommendations. :)

rest assured that whatever you do this is the place with the info you need.

If you want to "go it alone" with an off the shelf kit we can point you to the right source and help with the engineering

Not sure if wide whites would suit a cube Hmmm.

I would go 40mm width stripe max for one of them.

If you can do 40mm then I'm in, can you do 40mm at the moment then?

Cheers

been looking at the "Kent" kits website. I remember DS Eng as doing some cars way back but there are no pics of completed ones apart from the Max Power Astra from 2002 !

Astra club websites reckon that was a pile of poo and was quickly hidden away by MP . If they haven't done anything since then are they still trading ?

Cheers for the advice, DS are still going as I received an initial response but I see what you mean about the lack of images etc, I'm hoping to go more local any way.

I do most stuff to my car myself but the reason I don't want to do the work myself is my cube is my only car and I don't want to end up in the position of me ruining my car and having nobody to be able to put it back as it should be.

That's no problem, I've got a spare set I can fit.

Would you be able to do it next week?

Cheers
