« on: May 18, 2010, 06:43:15 PM »
Ive been having problem with accumlators on my macpherson strut't car the rear of the car seems to act as normal... but when it comes to the front its as if they arent there at all its as stiff as iron bars...

How do i find out why this is? or the pressures or why its doing this...? im pulling my hair out any suggestions would be helpful on what to try

If all your accs are set to the same pressure it may cause this, my old 300c had loads of suspension (accs) at the rear but not so much at the front. it was due to the fact all the weight was @ the back on the car. Acc's always seem to work better with heavier weights loaded on them.

you should be dropping them accurately by a measured [each side] 20 -25mm each side [asssuming you have four not two].
you can repeat this up to a max 3 times if needed as long as you are carefull with the gas.

Have you checked that the struts move freely up/down and in twist  under gravity ?

jack it up and put on blocks so there is no weight on them, then push them up and let them drop to see what happens. check the steering at the same time.
you should do this on initial fitting anyway to check that all is OK with no binding.

also make sure there are no hydraulic restrictions between strut and acc
