can anyone (iain!?) identify some fittings for me ta!
« on: June 17, 2010, 04:54:09 PM »
got two pumps for the rear rams in my regal, they originally came with 2 dumps each but im only running one per pump, i was told they had been originally supplied by max hydraulics, trouble is i have Tee's where i need elbows, so could do with knowing exactly what i need before i go looking for them!

first up is the Tee from the main port on the block, i think i need a 5/8" (or is it 3/8? not sure if its the thread or bore size you measure?) male taper to a 5/8" female elbow but i cant be sure, pic:

then its the Tee for the return lines into the slow down valve, i think i need a 1/2" male taper to a 9/16" (3/8"???) male JIC elbow but again, im not completely sure, pic:

and finally i need two hoses for the rear rams, they need to have the female equivalent of the same 9/16" male JIC fitting shown above, as thats the same as what ive got in my rams and dump.

thankyou!

right

the first one i now think i need 3/8 NPTF male to 3/8 NPTF female elbow

and

the second one i now think i need 1/4 NPTF male to 3/8 JIC male elbow

and

the hose is 3/8 JIC female to 3/8 JIC female

or am i wide of the mark somewhat!?

1st pic.............. the fitting in the center block is female 3/8 bsp.

2nd pic............. the hole in the slow down is 1/4 nptf [you will get away with bspt although its half  a pitch out]

3rd pic............. the hose fitting is jic but I cant be sure of the size from the pic.

so i was nearly right? the jic fitting in the hose is the same as ive used throughout (including the fitting that comes out of the slow down to the dump i.e. retrun line) and what has come from the states, they fit the fittings in the rams etc so i assume they are 3/8, how would i measure it just in case?

so...

the first one is 3/8 NPTF male to 3/8 bsp female elbow

and

the second is 1/4 NPTF male to 3/8 JIC male elbow

and

the hose is 3/8 JIC female to 3/8 JIC female

you got any idea where i can pick these up? and whats the difference between BSPT and NPTF?

9/16 JIC [same as the tee in your 2nd pic]

BSPT/NPTF............. just a slight difference in the thread form and pitch, yanks dont use BSP anything.

any Hydro stockist, but best price.............. dont know, if its not local you'll spend the difference on postage so your a bit stuck really.

Maybe bollockchops can help ?

right, apparently altho the hose is 3/8 you cant get 3/8 JIC ends, so as you say i need 9/16 JIC.

been quoted:

2 pcs 3/8” npt male x 3/8” npt female 90 deg elbow - 10.92 each (altho the female needs to be bsp)

2 pcs 9/16” jic male x 1/4" npt male 90 deg elbow - 4.44 each

2 pcs Hose assemblies 3/8” R2T 1530mm fitted with 9/16” jic females - 11.30 each

if it breaks, it breaks, and if it aint broke, dont fix it!

I've only got these, all the NPT elbows here are male to male.
I'll chuck the JIC elbows in the post as soon as you PM your address :)

in general bsp sizes relate to bore and jic [and most american stuff] relate to thread size.
