Painting / powdercoating fekked wire wheels..?
« on: June 21, 2010, 03:46:42 PM »
Hi All,

The 'chrome' wire wheels on my Low have died  :'(  I'm looking for some new ones but would like to do something with the ones I've got so the shiney ones can be saved for 'best'.

I've reconditioned & painted wheels in the past but with wires I really don't know where to start and doubt I'd end up with anything worthwhile so would rather pay to have it done properly! What are my options? Is getting just the spokes done possible (as the rims are mostly ok) or is it an 'all or nothing' affair? Is getting them re-chromed a sensible option? (could save buying new ones I guess..)

Any input / advice appreciated  8)  here's my ride FYI:

Thank you!

HC.

I don't think you'd be able to just get the spokes powder coated without doing the rim aswel.
One Lordz member (not around so much these days) had a ropey set of 14x7 standards powder coated in white and they looked pretty good.
American wires (made in China) are only single chrome plated so they usually start to rust whilst your still having the tyres fitted :o
I'd spray the spokes silver to cover the rust and get another set for best. (actually I'm too mean to buy another set, I'd just paint em and roll em)   :)
