Ram threads - iain?

youve probably been asked a million times before by me alone but, what size is the thread in the end of the ram (piston not cylinder)?

the rod end, not the hydraulic thread of a standard US ram is 1/2" UNF

(yes, I have !)

thanks! just stripped down the rams that came off the car, theyve had the wrong nut in there but fortunately its been a slightly different diameter so at least 3 out of the 4 are saveable, gonna have to try and run a tap down the 4th, im assuming the one on the left is 1/2 unf (1/2" diameter and 20tpi), god knows what the one on the right is but it aint right!

you can tell by the markings on the head but at a guess it's Metric

As Iain says, it looks like M12 (11.7mm dia, 1.75 pitch)

hahaha, i completed my apprenticeship but unfortunately 7 years of being stuck working with bullshit BA threads ive completely lost my way, its no wonder the railways got so fucked when you consider half the shit has been poorly serviced for the past 60 years but still gets used using parts and threads that are pretty much unobtainable nowadays, i've sat and festered doing the same job for so long i cant remeber most of what ive actually learned.
