Electrical question - parallel wiring batteries
« on: December 17, 2006, 01:51:17 PM »
Hi,

I want to share two banks of 24v to three pumps. Will the following work?

2x banks of two batteries giving 2 x 24v.

* Wiring from one bank to 2x pairs of solenoids to feed the two street pumps
* Wiring from the other bank to a pair of solenoids to the front pump
Then a jumper cable between the three banks of solenoids at the battery side

In my brain that works .. have i missed something? Would rather work out the theory before I set fire to my fresh install ;-)

would it be easier to wire the two banks of batteries in parallel giving a single 24v suply, and then connect to all of the sol's together from a single source?..

Exactly. Something like this...

My only thinking of doing it that way is you get even discharge across all of the batteries..

I guess if you wire one bank across 2 pumps and the other bank across the 3rd pump you get more power to the 3rd (assuming you hit both of the pair together)..

Im not good on electrics though, so dont quote me :D

Above is basically wiring them in parallel, just due to my lay out it's tidier.

In theory by wiring the two banks in parallel I will allow a higher ampage to be drawn by the front pump/s being activated as while the voltage doesn't change the ampage kinda does ;)

Above was kinda just 'thinking aloud'
