My pump block!
« on: March 12, 2007, 10:48:20 AM »
Been reading up loads on pumps and blocks, etc...

Am I right in thinking the red taps on the side of my blocks are some sort of slow down valves?   I've normally only seen them on the hoses and not the actual block.

Thanks!

yes.
the hex caps between the dumpcoils are the check valves and the red knobs are slow downs.

Cheers for that.

From all my "revising" on the internet, I've never seen the valves fitted inside the block.

It this common with the rest of you forum readers?

Cheers.

your checks are pretty standard for industrial hydraulic applications as they are low profile and cheaper than installing external fittings with check valves..   not sure about the slow-downs but it kind of makes sense; you only need one port out of the pump per cylinder connection that way, and the line that returns to tank is ported into the block; saves running an additional hose...
