Powerballs welding on chassis
« on: March 26, 2007, 10:10:45 PM »
Guys
As the chassis is getting reinforced with the body off, it makes sense to weld on the powerballs. Then the chassis can be all painted and detailed before the body goes back on. Does anyone know where there is specific info on where to weld them without having the body as reference?

I'm asking for this info for the guys who are doing the welding work. I would post it on Layitlow but might get smarmy small-town thimble dicks replying to me.

Can anyone put me in the right direction? Derrie? Iain?

Cheers Guys

I thought they'd go on the axle then coil-overs on the rams and spring cups welded to the frame?  I'm not claiming to be right, it's just my understanding of a common set up :)

Yeah, I've seen most of them on the axle. Is there an easy way of knowing exactly where on the axle though? Would hate to weld it in the wrong place and find out at a later date...

i think you would have to like mock up the car first to find out where to mount them. then break it all down and off for paint.

otherwise you're totally guessing

When I did tims tara I worked out they needed to be angled forward slightly to allow for smooth travel of the rams, also got the rams as close as possible to being perpendicular to the axle when viewed from the rear. It was a case of mocking things up and checking. I would advise whoever it is thats doing the work for you to do the same
