mercs - gearboxes - torque converters - etc

Can anyone tell me if a 500SE (SEL) gearbox / torque converter will fit a 420 engine?? reason being i think the TC has been thoroughly unhappy over the last weeks with me giving it shit, and as a consequence has started making some ludicrus noises at me under hard acceling..... only reason i ask is ive seen one at a descent price, if not my search continues.......

I think the 500 and 420 were effectively the same engine, just changes to bore/stroke however I can't confirm...  If you get no joy from the merc boyo's then give dave a ring (07710672986) he should be able to tell you...   Tell him ben from leicester sent you

If its no good, im 99% sure he will have a g/box that will suit and is generally very good on price
