Hydros for my 74 Merc SL350
« on: August 15, 2007, 02:39:57 PM »
Heyy peeps newbeee to the site i need help.. Basicly in the process of restoring my 1974 SL 350. I been doing some research and got quoted £1600 for a 3 pump system from showtime plus £250 for spings. But as i understand it these systems require ALOT of mainternence... Pluss im not gona be able to get the front wheels off the ground with this basic system and 3 wheeling will damage the car... Should i maybe be looking at Airbags?? Wots the rea advantage of having a proper hydraulic system?Plus who is the best peeps to go to for quality fitting in the UK?? Oh yeah any one else seen or got a SL on hydros?????

as you know you wont get "hopping" performance out of that chassis regardless of the system you run so coils are a waste of money, as is a 3 pump system.

run accumulators with a 2 pump sys at 24/36 volts. that will be reliable and will give all the performance your ride can handle without busting.

or go air.......... either way is fine, depemnds on what you want from the car.

loads of MB folks on hereso expect lots of replies.

Get some pics up of your benz man.

I run a 83 sec on air very low maintanence and pretty compact once youv'e got your tanks tucked away.

If you go air your choice is endless but one thing I would seriously recomend is buy slam air springs (bags) Iv'e used others and they are the best..

Good thread on an american site with some air install pics.
